The Nexon EV was Tata Motors’ first mass market electric vehicle and it has been a very popular choice in the budget EV segment. In fact, the Nexon EV price, features and range combination is one that is very hard to beat, even for conventional ICE-powered compact SUVs. However, Tata Motors is rumoured to be launching a new Nexon EV soon which will have a longer range!
Currently the Nexon EV range is a claimed 300km, while this long-range version is expected to cross the 400km mark, which will substantially increase the practicality factor of the Nexon EV. Will this increased range come at the cost of a much bulkier battery? Well, we don’t think so because battery technology has improved a lot in the couple of years that the Nexon EV has been launched. So, we expect Tata Motors to be able to fit a denser, more energy efficient battery into the same size as the current Nexon EV.
Other changes to the long-range Nexon EV
could include more power and torque from the electric motor, plus a facelift
which will then be carried onto the standard Nexon in a few months, like we saw
when the Nexon EV first arrived. The Nexon EV long range could also get new
features, faster charging and an updated interior.
Some sources also say that the Nexon EV Coupe could also come either in 2022 or 2023, which will be bigger than the standard Nexon EV, allowing it to fit not only a bigger battery but the slippery shape will also give it longer range.
Nexon EV long range pricing could be
slightly higher than the current Nexon EV Price range of Rs 14-16
lakh. We expect the long range Nexon EV to be priced between Rs 15.5-18 lakh,
if it does get extra features and a substantially higher range.
