Citroen C3 to be launched in India soon

The Citroen C3 has been a long time coming. The C3 will be Citroen's first mass-market product for India and it will be made here in India as well. This should mean that the Citroen C3 India price will be competitive when compared to rivals like the Tata Punch and the Nissan Magnite.

The Citroen C3 design is quite funky with orange inserts that contrast well with the launch colour of Polar White. There is the traditional Citroen chevron on the front, which flows on either side into the split design of the DRL and headlights. The side profile gets thick plastic cladding and the Citroen C3 rear design is kept rather clean with the Citroen badge sitting in the centre and subtle C3 badging.

The Citroen C3 interiors are also funky and youthful and get the same orange inserts seen on the outside, though it is unclear if customers will get an option to change this colour or remove it altogether. Citroen C3 features will include a 10-inch infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an integrated phone holder, manual air conditioning, manual mirror adjustment, dual airbags, ABS, EBD and more.

In terms of powertrains, the Citroen C3 engine will likely be a 1.2-litre petrol, in naturally-aspirated or turbocharged guise with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Of course, the most important factor for the Citroen C3 India success will be price, and we expect the C3 price to range between Rs 5.5-10 lakh depending on the variants. Expect Citroen showrooms in India to also be increased in number as we get closer to the Citroen C3 launch date which is expected to be in the first half of 2022, perhaps in the month of March.

Citroen C3 Spotted No Camouflage: To Be Launched This Year?

The Citroen C3 has been spotted without camouflage finally, leading to speculation that the French automaker is close to launching its next offering in the Indian market. The Citroen C3 is a compact SUV offered by the automaker and Citroen's second offering in the country after the C5 Aircross. Read on for more information on the Citroen C3's exterior and engine specification speculations.

Citroen C3 Looks

The Citroen C3 is a sub-four metre SUV offering by the French brand and is a part of Citroen's C-Cubed program for the Indian market. Under this program, Citroen plans to launch a car every year till 2023 in India, with the C3 being the slated launch for this year.

Talking about the Citroen C3's external features, the compact SUV gets a design sensibility that follows the Citroen design language as seen in the C5. The front sports a unique split headlight setup with dual DRLs that combine into the hood's chrome grille. The main headlight setup is a bumper mounted one for both high and low beams.

Along the compact SUV's lines, the Citroen gets SUV-style plastic cladding, roof rails and standard door handles.

While the rear end gets a large Citroen badging, SUV style plastic cladding and premium-looking LED tail-lights. The C3 looks rather muscular with appropriately muscular fender lines and flairs.

The Citroen C3 will most likely get dual colour options, with the ORVMs getting the dual-tone colour scheme as well. Dual-tones for the roof are likely to include two colours - Artense Grey and Zesty Orange. The interior is likely to carry a dual-tone theme with Zesty Orange being a dominant colour on the interior, at least on certain variants if not all of them.

Citroen C3 Engine Specifications

Power duties in the Citroen C3 are expected to be given to a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine. The Citroen C3 may even get a turbocharged petrol and a diesel-powered variant. Transmission options may include a manual and an automatic, with the latter possibly being a torque converter transmission.

Verdict

The Citroen C3 will be a compelling offering in India, fitting itself properly within the compact SUV segment in the country, currently a rather popular segment. While Citroen is looking into hybrid and electric versions of the C3 for the international market, it is unlikely those would reach our shores any time soon. When launched, the Citroen C3 can go against the likes of the Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and other offerings in the compact SUV segment.
