MG Astor Overview
The MG Astor has been one of the bestselling MG cars in the compact SUV segment. The
Astor rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and the Skoda
Kushaq, to name a few. It will also lock horns with the upcoming Toyota Hyryder.
Apart from that, the MG Astor is also the first vehicle in its
segment to get one of the most advanced driving assistance systems. However,
earlier in July 2022, the MG Astor received four new variants. The newly
introduced variants are available in the Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp trims.
Furthermore, the added variants have the suffix "EX." In addition, it
is also worth mentioning that the added variants have lower prices than the
already-existing variants. That further translates to an absence of certain
features. Despite that, if you are considering the MG Astor as your next
purchase, below are a few key points that you need to know.
MG
Astor: Powertrain
First things first, the MG Astor is available with an
electric-powered engine. In India, the electric iteration of the MG Astor is
sold as the MG ZS EV. If you are interested in the ZS EV, check out a curated
list based on MG Cars' price. Besides that, the MG Astor specifications
include two petrol-powered engines. One unit has a 1.3-litre turbocharged
petrol engine capable of producing 140PS and 220Nm of torque. And another unit
is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated (NA) petrol engine that produces 110PS and
144Nm of torque. Presently, the MG Astor doesn't cater to buyers who want a
diesel engine. However, Astor's rivals that offer a diesel engine are the
Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
As for transmissions, the turbo-petrol unit is exclusively
available with a six-speed manual transmission, while the naturally-aspirated
engine has a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox option. If you want to know an
expert's opinion on the Astor's drivability, then this MG Astor review is

Astor: Features
As for the MG Astor features, it definitely has a long list of
entertainment and safety offerings. This compact SUV boasts a panoramic
sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, auto HVAC/headlights, and a
digital instrument cluster, to name a few. The list will go on and on.
However, on the safety front, the MG Astor's one main USP is the
ADAS Level-2 feature. ADAS stands for Advanced Driver-Assistance System. The
Astor is still regarded as a vehicle to receive a first-in-segment advanced
safety feature. That said, there is speculation that the upcoming Hyundai Creta
and the Kia Seltos have a chance to come with ADAS technology. Moreover, the
facelifted version of the MG Hector will also get the ADAS technology. For more
details on the 2022 Hector, you can go through the MG cars page on autoX, which
includes a list of current offerings alongside the upcoming MG cars.
