Tata Tiago i-CNG Review | Specifications - autoX

 Tata Tiago i-CNG Specifications -

The Tata Tiago i-CNG is doing pretty well in the Indian CNG segment. The CNG variant should have good build quality because the non-CNG variant of the Tata Tiago's safety rating is 4-star, awarded by the Global NCAP. So, it can be safe to say that the Tata Tiago i-CNG's safety rating won't be disappointing.

But that will only come with time. However, at the same time, several Tata cars will be coming into their CNG domain.

In the CNG competition, Maruti Suzuki has been a dominating player. And to compete with the brand, several mainstream carmakers have made a foray into the CNG segment. Those new players majorly include Tata Motors and Hyundai India.

So, if you want to know the tit-bits about Tata's first CNG car, this article might come into use. Let's begin then!

Tata Tiago i-CNG: Powertrain -

The Tata Tiago specifications include a 1.2-litre i-CNG that generates 72bhp@6000rpm of power and 95nm@3500rpm of torque. It is exclusively available with a five-speed manual transmission. The Tata Tiago has a front-wheel-drivetrain.

The Tata Tiago CNG ARAI-claimed mileage is 26.49 km/kg.

As for the CNG fuel tank capacity, the Tiago CNG has a 60kg tank.

Interestingly, Tata Motors claims that the Tata Tiago i-CNG has the most powerful engine in its class to date. And that is true.

Moreover, if you want to know the drivability of the CNG-powered hatchback, refer to this Tata Tiago CNG review done by one of the senior correspondents.

Tata Tiago i-CNG: Features -

The Tata Tiago is a feature-loaded hatchback and boasts several segment-first features. For instance, it gets auto HVAC, auto headlamps with DRLs, and rain-sensing wipers, to name a few. Apart from that, the driver can also switch on the car using the CNG mode. That means it doesn't need petrol to switch on the engine, unlike other CNG cars. Apart from that, it also gets leak detection technology, which tells the driver to switch from CNG mode to petrol mode. That is an important safety feature.

Then there is another useful safety feature. So, if the fuel lid is mistakenly left open, the car will detect it, and the engine won't start.

However, for the inside-the-cabin experience, you can check out the Tiago CNG review. The review is also available on YouTube.

Tata Tiago i-CNG: Price and Rivals -

Considering its shape and size, the Tata Tiago rivals the Maruti Suzuki Celerio/WagonR CNG and the Hyundai Santro CNG.

Besides that, the Tata Tiago i-CNG variants include XE, XM, XT, and XZ.

As for the pricing, the Tata Tiago CNG on-road Delhi price starts at Rs 7.17 lakh for the XE CNG variant and goes up to Rs 8.94 lakh for the XZ Plus CNG Dual Tone.

A Loaded CNG Offering |Tata Tiago i-CNG Review

Tata recently launched its lineup of CNG cars in India. With it, Tata Motors has officially entered the running in alternative fuels behind those already present in the market such as Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki. Tata's i-CNG monikered offering brings more to the table with a large feature list not seen before in CNG variants. We take a first-hand look at Tata's new hatchback and share with you a comprehensive Tata Tiago i-CNG review. Read on for more information.

On The Outside

While the Tata Tiago received a new 2022 update, there are few differences between the petrol and CNG variants. The Tiago i-CNG gets a new colour and features such as projector headlamps, and LED Daytime Running Lamps. The petrol top variant gets 15-inch alloys but these do not carry over to the i-CNG which gets 14-inch steel rims only.

Inside the Tiago

The new Tata Tiago i-CNG features a black and beige interior. Unlike its petrol counterpart, the CNG Tiago gets a dedicated CNG button on the centre console to switch between petrol and CNG fueling. And in pure OEM fashion, the digital instrument cluster in the driver cockpit now integrates an additional CNG fuel gauge. The CNG variant also gets a fire extinguisher as standard.

Powering the Tiago

The Tata Tiago's 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine puts down 86PS of power and 114Nm of peak torque. Switching to CNG brings the performance figures down to 73PS and 95Nm of peak torque for an economic drive. The dedicated CNG button makes switching to the alternate fuelling system easy and user-friendly.

A Loaded Offering

Tata Motors instead of equipping only the base variant went with equipping multiple variants with CNG powertrains. So with the Tata Tiago, customers can expect more features than its competition which has only base models. The Tiago i-CNG comes equipped with creature comforts such as projector headlights with DRLs, dual-tone colour options and spoiler, rain-sensing wipers, shark fin antenna, LED DRLs, 7-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cooled glovebox, automatic ORVMs and more.

Money Talks

The Tata Tiago i-CNG gets four variants with an optional dual-tone variant for the top XZ Plus trim. Prices for the Tata Tiago i-CNG start priced at ₹6.12 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the XE variant.
