Tata Altroz: All You Need to Know

The indigenous carmaker built this hatchback on the ALFA-ARC platform. The Tata Altroz was the first car to have the ALFA-ARC as its underpinnings. For reference, ALFA stands for Agile, Light, Flexible, and Advanced. Speaking of the platform, the Tata Punch also has the same chassis as the Altroz. And both vehicles hold a five-star safety rating awarded by Global NCAP. That said, these two sub-four-metre vehicles are among the bestselling Tata cars in India

So, it is safe to say that any car built on that platform should be among the safest cars. Further, Tata Motors once claimed that the design of this platform could accommodate several body types, such as sedans, hatchbacks, compact SUVs, and MPVs.

Besides that, if you are planning to purchase the Altroz, then below are a few things that you should know:

Specifications

As far as the Altroz is concerned, it has the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine that also powers other models like the Tata Tigor and Tiago. However, these two other vehicles miss out on the diesel engine, unlike the Altroz.

The 1.5-litre diesel mill is tuned to churn out 90PS and 200Nm of torque. That's a lot of torque for a hatchback, indicating better acceleration in its class. Furthermore, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit produces 86PS and 113Nm of torque, while the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol has 110PS and 140Nm of torque. To know the Altroz car price, especially of the diesel variants, visit the autoX website.

It is also worth mentioning that all the units come with a standard five-speed manual transmission. However, the optional automatic DCT unit is exclusive to the turbo-petrol variant.

As far as the fuel economy is concerned, the Tata Altroz's mileage ranges between 18.34 kmpl and 23 kmpl, as claimed by ARAI.

However, at the same time, customers should also expect the electric iteration of the Tata Altroz. The expected launch should be in the near future.

Features

New-age Tata cars boast a long list of features. On top of it, the CNG models are also feature-loaded, unlike other CNG-powered competitors. Amidst the soaring fuel prices, private buyers are also shifting towards cheaper and greener fuel like CNG. And CNG models usually lack features, but the Tata CNG vehicles won't let you complain about anything. Keeping that aside, the top-of-the-line variant of the Altroz packs a seven-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. You can check the latest and approximate Altroz's on-road price, especially the top-most variant on autoX.

This hatchback also gets connected-car technology that shows upcoming car services, fuel level, last parked location, and geo-fence alerts, among others. Moreover, you get a semi-digital instrument cluster with steering-mounted control with a cruise control feature. The Altroz also gets glove box cooling, ambient lighting, seat lumbar support, auto HVAC, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, etc.

Prices and Variants

There are seven broad trims on the Altroz: XE, XE+, XM+, XT, XZ, XZ (O), and XZ+. However, the Dark Edition is onward and upwards the XT trim.

It takes on the likes of the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Toyota Glanza. You can also get the base model of the Hyundai Verna at the price of the top-most variant of the Altroz. However, the Tata Altroz on-road price starts from Rs 7.19 lakh onwards.

It is also worth noting that the prices of vehicles can vary across dealerships from state to state. But don't worry!
