A Loaded CNG Offering |Tata Tiago i-CNG Review

Tata recently launched its lineup of CNG cars in India. With it, Tata Motors has officially entered the running in alternative fuels behind those already present in the market such as Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki. Tata's i-CNG monikered offering brings more to the table with a large feature list not seen before in CNG variants. We take a first-hand look at Tata's new hatchback and share with you a comprehensive Tata Tiago i-CNG review. Read on for more information.

On The Outside

While the Tata Tiago received a new 2022 update, there are few differences between the petrol and CNG variants. The Tiago i-CNG gets a new colour and features such as projector headlamps, and LED Daytime Running Lamps. The petrol top variant gets 15-inch alloys but these do not carry over to the i-CNG which gets 14-inch steel rims only.

Inside the Tiago

The new Tata Tiago i-CNG features a black and beige interior. Unlike its petrol counterpart, the CNG Tiago gets a dedicated CNG button on the centre console to switch between petrol and CNG fueling. And in pure OEM fashion, the digital instrument cluster in the driver cockpit now integrates an additional CNG fuel gauge. The CNG variant also gets a fire extinguisher as standard.

Powering the Tiago

The Tata Tiago's 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine puts down 86PS of power and 114Nm of peak torque. Switching to CNG brings the performance figures down to 73PS and 95Nm of peak torque for an economic drive. The dedicated CNG button makes switching to the alternate fuelling system easy and user-friendly.

A Loaded Offering

Tata Motors instead of equipping only the base variant went with equipping multiple variants with CNG powertrains. So with the Tata Tiago, customers can expect more features than its competition which has only base models. The Tiago i-CNG comes equipped with creature comforts such as projector headlights with DRLs, dual-tone colour options and spoiler, rain-sensing wipers, shark fin antenna, LED DRLs, 7-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cooled glovebox, automatic ORVMs and more.

Money Talks

The Tata Tiago i-CNG gets four variants with an optional dual-tone variant for the top XZ Plus trim. Prices for the Tata Tiago i-CNG start priced at ₹6.12 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the XE variant.
